It all started when I saw the pic below on instagram. I was instantly reminded how I need to paint the cubed trunk I have. Mine was bought at Marshalls years ago but it was covered in animal print craft paper. The hardware was left bronze and rustic. I love it and use it as a side table but I want a fresh new look….
This above is so vibrant and full of life…
Over on diy showoff, they painted their freebie find with stripes.
I am really liking the way the blue looks. Maybe I could paint mine cobalt blue with black and white stripes with gold hardware or maybe cobalt blue hardware, white trunk with black stripes. Is that too many colors?
I even like the sporadic studs on this green trunk. I could get some stencils too instead of stickers. I like the way this turned out with vintage lettering to spell out Paris. I just bought a yellow candelabra from Marshalls for $10 on clearance. They didn’t have any other colors I would want and that was the closet thing near chartreuse (sour apple green) that I have in my living room. I am thinking of leaving it yellow and just adding a few more yellow accents (just a few as I’m not a huge yellow fan) because I love the contrast and how it compliments cobalt blue. So seeing this yellow truck from etsy, is making this decision so much more difficult.
I toyed with the idea of sheet metal but that would probably entail more labor than I want to do…
